Making a New Years resolution to become a better trader is futile!

You end up reneging on your resolutions to become a better trader because you don’t understand the innermost workings of your brain.

Will power is a very short-term solution to improving your trading prowess, since it is controlled by your conscious mind. The latest scientific research shows that the non-conscious, conditioned side of your personality controls five-sixths of your behavior and, therefore, your long-term results.

If you don’t “re-train” the non-conscious side of your brain at the same time as you make the decision to become a better trader, you will within very short order return to your old habits and, in most cases, perform poorly again.

There is a “cybernetic trigger” in your brain that detects any change from your current trading situation. It overrides your will power, and forces you to trade the way you always have, subconsciously, until you just do it the old way all over again. A little bit like the thermostat in your home that is sensitive to any change in room temperature.

This automatic “trigger” causes you to rationalize why you’re not sticking with your goal of becoming a better trader, and basically forces you to revert back to your old ways.

It takes about 30 days, using visualization exercises and other simple techniques, to access and recondition this part of the brain to ensure long-lasting trading success.

And, of course, it doesn’t hurt if you crawl over a LOT of crushed glass to achieve your goal of becoming a better trader. Trading is just as much about patience, staying power and hard work as it is about mental conditioning.
